The development and survival of the Maasai people is a matter of grave concern to us. We strongly believe that we can bring sustainable social-economic development to the Maasai region, while preserving our cultural heritage. We do not have to abandon our traditions and culture to thrive in the modern world.

Zanzibar Programs

Zanzibar

Set in one of the most exotic places in the world; Maasai Children Education gives an opportunity for volunteer’s and interns to visit one of the Indian Oceans, tropical paradises!  We offer accommodation right in the heart of historical Stone Town, Zanzibar. Accommodation for other Zanzibar volunteer projects are located within a private home near small villages across the coast; Mzuri Kaja (Makunduchi area where the famous palm-fringed white sands and Indian Ocean are just foot steps away).

All Zanzibar placements are within walking distance.  However, dress code throughout certain areas of the island can be very strict.  Therefore, we ask that “male mzungus” wear pants and “women mzungus” have their shoulders and legs covered.  Please feel free to ask us any questions regarding dress!  Overall, Zanzibar is a wonderful place that combines leisure and/or volunteering.  We also provide adventures to the north side of the island; where, “Every day is a Holiday!”

In Zanzibar, you can volunteer and intern throughout various programs.  Most of the Zanzibar volunteering and Internship placements are within education and the social sector, but we have some specialized tasks as well.  These include; sports programs, journalism, social media, photography, etc.  All is part of our UNICEF Children Agenda approach.

In Zanzibar, you can also attend numerous small tour programs within the island, or to take a ferry to Pemba Islands, Dar es Salaam, and/or attend safari in the Selous, Ruaha and/or Mikumi National Park.  We will help personalize everything for you!

Volunteering within Zanzibar costs 260USD per week, minimum stay is two weeks. The Study – participation fee is 230USD for less than 3 months stay and 280USD for longer than 3 months stay.
